Governor Lombardo Announces Nevada Earns First-Ever ‘A’ Grade in 2026 Digital States Survey
NEVADA, September 24 - CARSON CITY, Nev. – Today, Governor Joe Lombardo announced that Nevada has earned its first-ever “A” grade in the 2026 Digital States Survey, marking a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to modernize technology, strengthen statewide IT governance, and improve digital services for Nevadans.
Nevada also received an Outstanding Achievement Award for Continuous Innovation, recognizing the state’s use of technology to improve government operations and service delivery.
“Over the last several years, we’ve made it a priority to modernize state government, strengthen accountability, and ensure Nevada is keeping pace with the technology needs of our growing state,” said Governor Joe Lombardo. “Earning Nevada’s first-ever ‘A’ grade is a significant achievement and reflects the hard work of our technology teams and state employees across the executive branch. We’ll continue building on this progress to make state government more efficient, secure, and responsive for Nevadans.”
Nevada has steadily improved its Digital States Survey performance, rising from a C+ in 2020 to a B- in 2022, a B+ in 2024, and now an A in 2026.
“A key factor in the success of the states that achieve an A is the alignment and support of the Governor’s office in the state’s technology plan and strategy,” said Teri Takai, Center for Digital Government Chief Programs Officer.
Several areas contributed to Nevada’s improved performance:
Continuous Innovation: Nevada was recognized for cross-agency initiatives including AI-assisted plain-language tools, cloud-based DMV services, and the CORE.NV cloud enterprise resource planning modernization. These efforts have helped make taxpayer correspondence more accessible, enabled more than 97 percent of unemployment claims to be filed online, and supported the processing of $3.9 billion in financial transactions.
Constituent Digital Experience: Nevada continued expanding centralized technology platforms and modernizing agency services. DriveNV has increased digital services available to DMV customers, while the state’s enterprise content management system migration has moved 40 state websites onto the modernized platform, with another 25 included in the next phase. The Department of Taxation’s AI-assisted plain-language initiative also contributed to a 52 percent reduction in general call volume.
Cyber Risk and Resiliency: Nevada was recognized for its response to the 2025 statewide ransomware attack. The Governor’s Technology Office coordinated recovery efforts across more than 60 agencies, restored business-critical services within seven days, and achieved full recovery in 28 days, with approximately 90 percent of data recovered all without paying any ransom to cybercriminals. State technology employees logged 4,212 overtime hours during the recovery, saving an estimated $478,062 compared with relying solely on outside vendors.
“This recognition would not have been possible without the leadership and support of Governor Lombardo and his administration, along with the dedicated work of technology professionals throughout state government,” said Timothy Galluzi, Governor’s Technology Office State Chief Information Officer. “Nevada has made tremendous progress in modernizing our technology, strengthening statewide governance, and building a culture of continuous innovation. Earning an A grade reflects how far we’ve come, but more importantly, it shows that the work we’re doing is delivering better, more efficient, and more accessible services for Nevadans.”
The Lombardo administration will continue building on these improvements by modernizing legacy systems, strengthening cybersecurity, expanding enterprise technology platforms, and using emerging technologies to improve the efficiency and accessibility of state services.
