NV Dems Chair Statement on Nevada’s Position in the DNC Presidential Nominating Calendar

Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno released the following statement in response to the DNC setting the 2028 presidential nominating calendar:

“In 2028, our Democratic nominee will need to craft an economic message that resonates across the country, reach and win back working-class voters, and regain the trust of diverse communities who we must turn out in order to claim victory and retake the White House. Nevada is that broad coalition of voices—Latino, Black, AANHPI, and Native American as well as white working-class voters—that will test a candidate’s ability to win in a general election. 

“This new calendar best represents who we are as a party and I am excited to showcase our state as Democrats’ first true test in the upcoming presidential nominating process.” 

Nevada is a majority-minority state representing Latino (31.2%), Black (11.3%), AANHPI (10.60%), Native American (2.70%), and white working-class voters. As the most labor-dense state in the calendar, we are also union strong, where organized labor represents 13% of our workforce. We’re also a consistently competitive swing state where elections are decided by the slimmest margin.

Nevada’s state-run primary will be held on February 1, 2028.
